Asgeir Sigurdsson

Cand Odont from the University of Iceland. Graduated from the University of North Carolina (UNC) in 1992 with a certificate in endodontics and an MS in neurobiology.

Full-time faculty at UNC, 1992-2004; Graduate Program Director of Endodontics, 1997 to 2004. From 2004 to 2012, in private endodontic practice in Reykjavik, Iceland, and London, UK, and during the same time, an Honorary Clinical Teacher in Endodontology at UCL Eastman Dental Institute, UK.

In 2012, he became the Chairman and tenured Professor in the Department of Endodontics at NYU Dentistry. Additionally, he is an adjunct Professor at UNC and was an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Hong Kong, China, from 2011 to 2014.

Dr. Sigurdsson is the past President of the International Association for Dental Traumatology. In 2014, he was appointed as a Director of the American Board of Endodontics, serving as President of the Board from 2019 to 2020.  He is currently a member of the editorial board of Dental Traumatology.

Dr. Sigurdsson has been invited numerous times to lecture in 49 countries worldwide on topics including pain, endodontics, dental trauma, and forensic sciences. He has written or co-written over 90 peer-reviewed articles and 24 textbook chapters on the same topics.
